TechPlan
Welcome to TechPlan! Here is a quick guide on how to navigate the planner and successfully map out your Brooklyn Tech high school career.
TechPlan is built custom for Brooklyn Technical High School students to accurately simulate their 4-year schedule. This tool aggregates required core classes, major specific tracks, and electives to calculate course count, period count, and AP count. TechPlan is designed to enforce the credits and classes necessary for Brooklyn Tech students to recieve a Tech Diploma, which sets them up for a rigorous schedule that allows them to excel and stand out to colleges and universities.
Brooklyn Tech requires students to commit to a specific major track starting junior year. Use the drop-down menu at the top of the 'Plan' tab to pick a major. Changing your major will instantly wipe out your junior and senior year specialized schedules and swap them with the mandatory courses for that path (e.g., Computer Engineering, Aerospace, etc.). Swapping majors will also reset all other edited/added courses in order to meet the necessary constraints such as the 3 AP limit, 8 maximum periods, and more.
At Brooklyn Tech, students are expected to take rigorous courses throughout their four years. Students are scheduled to complete an advanced regents diploma, as well as take additional courses in order to earn their Brooklyn Tech High School Diploma. This means earning a total of 44 credits. These credits are described below. 1 credit = 1 semester 2 semesters = 1 year
• 8 semesters of English Language Arts (ELA)
• 4 semesters of Global History • 2 semesters of US History • 1 semester of Participation in Government • 1 semester of Economics

A standard day cannot exceed 10 periods. Excluding a mandatory lunch period and gym rotation period (gym, lab, free period, advisory for a semester), each student has 8 available periods that can be spent in class. Classes can be 1 or 2 periods. To see class information, you can either click on the class card in your plan, or go through the explore page. Gym and lunch are not listed as periods for the sake of simplicity.
Advanced Placement courses are highly demanding. Brooklyn Tech imposes a limit of 3 AP classes per year.
Elective courses allow you to customize your schedule, but they can only be added if you have open periods left in your 8 period limit (excluding lunch & gym periods) after your mandatory major tracks and required courses are completely filled.
